My vases are built by hand using a slab/coil method over many days. The process is unhurried, with multiple stages that allow me to work on a few at once, moving between forms as they evolve.

My favourite part of the process is the carving. When a piece reaches the perfect leather-hard stage, it’s ready to carve - a point where time slows, and I can lose myself for hours.

Once carved, I might apply a slip or leave it raw, then let it dry for 2–3 weeks before the bisque firing. After that, I decide whether to keep the surface at is it, embracing its natural texture, or to apply glaze mixed in my studio to bring out further depth.

The interiors are always glazed to ensure water-tightness. After glazing, the pieces dry overnight before being fired again at a high temperature, locking in both form and finish.
